Ochiai-no-Isidatammi (paved stones)

“Ochiai-no-Isidatammi (paved stones)” locates at a mountain pass between Ochiai-juku and Magome-juku along Nakasendo. Its total length is about 840 meters, approximately 70 meters among which remains completely unchanged from the Edo Period. “Hakone” along Tokaido and “Ochiai” along Nakasendo are the only two places in Japan that still conserve the paved stones from the Edo Period. Many people have been visiting this place in order to walk on the paved stones because they are able to feel the atmosphere of the street at that time.
